How usable this site is, and where it is not
Built with WCAG 2.2 level AA as the aim, and with text contrast at 7:1, which is the AAA level. Not certified and not audited, because certification means testing we have not done.
What we have not tested
We have not tested with JAWS, NVDA, Dragon, or a switch device, and we have not run a formal audit. We have not gone through every page by keyboard alone or at 400 per cent zoom.
What we did
- Every text colour in the stylesheets measures at least 7:1 against the page or panel colour it sits on, and a script checks this on every build. The script cannot see colours that a page script writes into its own markup.
- Links, buttons and form fields show a visible focus ring when you reach them by keyboard.
- Nothing important sits only behind a hover. The Products menu in the header opens on hover and on keyboard focus, and the same pages are linked further down the homepage.
- Pinch zoom is not blocked.
- Motion is limited to a short fade and rise when a page loads, a fill that crosses buttons on hover or focus, and navigation labels that roll over on hover or focus. None of it loops, and if your system asks for reduced motion, the animations and transitions are switched off.
- The send form on the assessment has no CAPTCHA.
What we know is imperfect
- There is no dark mode yet.
- Some labels and notes are small, between 10 and 12 pixels.
- The assessment, the guide's questions and the send form need JavaScript. With it blocked or failed, the rest of the site reads normally, but those parts do not run, and the guide's illustrations show a placeholder.
